VISAKHAPATNAM: Nearly 70 per cent of the victims of cybercrimes in Andhra Pradesh were tech-savvy and educated, while those caught committed the offence mostly to satiate their greed for money.
Police said at least 30 to 40 per cent of the victims in the virtual frauds were either under graduate or post graduate and over 20 to 30 of them were working professionals. Only 10 to 20 per cent victims were Class-X qualified. Speaking to TOI, ADCP (CCS), D Sravan Kumar said the cybercrimes are mostly committed by youngsters who are tech-savvy. Ironically, the majority of the victims of the cybercrimes were also educated and tech-savvy. It's greed for easy money that drives youngsters to commit cybercrime while it is ignorance, greed and a few others that make the educated people victims of cyber fraud.
